Here are a few suggestions :

On a dry day take in the beautiful surroundings with a walk up Tinto Hill or visit the Clyde Falls, Dawyck Botanic Gardens, Kailzie Gardens, or one of the gardens open for charity under Scotland’s Garden Scheme.

 

On a dreich day shelter inside by visiting New Lanark, Traquair House, Floors Castle, or head to the many indoor visitor attractions in Glasgow, Edinburgh or Ayr. Alternatively, stay in at The Bothy and curl up in front of the wood burning stove with a good book or DVD.

Travel by car via M74 (approx. 45 minutes), or direct trains from Lanark to Glasgow Central.

 

Edinburgh

Travel by car via A70 (approx. 1 hour), or by train (West Calder station approx. 30 minutes by car, then 30 minutes by train).
